Deception Fire

Deception Fire
Air Quality Report & Outlook for Saturday 9/20/14
On Friday, wind out of the north kept  smoke out of the communities of Oakridge and Westfir creating one of the better air quality days this week. After sunset, downslope winds pushed smoke down Deception Creek.  Yesterday, the air monitors in Oakridge recorded “GOOD” levels of particulate matter.  The Westfir air monitor recorded “Moderate” to “Unhealthy” for a short period of time during the night and early morning hours.
Today, Saturday, will be one of the warmest and driest days of the week with winds out of the east pushing smoke in a westerly direction.  Smoke production on the fire will increase and smoke will be pushed west until the winds subside.  The most significant smoke impacts may be around Westfir, specifically, the area around Deception Creek drainage, on Saturday night through early Sunday morning.
Smoke forecasts are dependent on predicted fire growth and weather.    If conditions change unexpectedly, impacts could occur.
