DECEPTION FIRE

Air Quality Report & Outlook Monday, 9/22/14

Sunday saw hazy skies and smoke that was aloft. Throughout the day yesterday, the air quality in Oakridge and Westfir was “Good”.
Sunday evening saw mostly “Moderate” impacts except for a period of approximately 4 hours between 6-10 pm, when smoke drained into the Westfir/Deception Creek drainage causing some “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” to “Unhealthy” conditions. Conditions in Oakridge were “Good”.
Monday will be partly coudy.  Winds will pick up out of the west to southwest, during the day, pushing smoke in an east to northeastly direction.  Expect “Good” to “Moderate” smoke conditions today.  Localized night time down drainage flows will bring residual smoke into the Westfir/Deception Creek area again tonight into the early morning hours.
Rain showers are in the forecast this week, which will further mitigate fire behavior and smoke production.
Smoke forecasts are dependent on predicted fire growth and weather.    If conditions change unexpectedly, impacts could occur.
