Estacada - Friday morning (6 am) Smoke Update

A few hours of smoke is expected this morning in the Clackamas River Valley including Estacada. Conditions should clear by 10 or 11 am.

  1. I heard that the smoke is going to get thicker this weekend as the east wind picks up and the humidity lessons. Is this true? Why?

  2. As the humidity decreases, fire activity typically increases, producing more smoke. With winds from the east, smoke will blow towards the Willamette Valley, and away from Estacada, which will still be impacted by down-valley drainage flow in the mornings.
