Smoke Forecast for Blanket Creek and Spruce Lake Fires -- Aug. 14, 2017

Fire
Blanket Creek Fire – Minimal fire spread is expected.  Portions of the fire have moved into more open stands with less surface fuels.  Greatest activity at the eastern end of the fire. 

Spruce Lake Fire – Minimal fire spread is expected.   Loss of intensity are expected as the fire moves toward old burn scars and patchy fuel areas.

Winds will be generally from the northwest.

Blanket Creek Fire –  Although smoke continues to linger in areas nearest to the fires, it can be expected to move towards the southeast in the afternoon.  Greatest impacts remain local.  Air quality will be ‘moderate’ in the area today. 

Spruce Lake Fire – Tourists at Crater Lake National Park will be able to view and smell smoke. Visitors should check for road closures and other announcements ahead of time.  Visitors can check https://www.nps.gov/crla/planyourvisit/conditions.htm for updates.
