Smoke Forecast for Umpqua North Complex Fires -- Aug. 22, 2017

Smoke Outlook:  Umpqua North Complex
Issued for: Tuesday, August 22, 2017
Air Resource Advisor: Jen Croft

Fire Activity: Several fires continue to make small runs and flare up as crews make progress around perimeters.  Devil, Happy Dog, and #305 are the most active within the complex, contributing to the geographic haze.

Smoke: Thick early morning smoke conditions will be compounded by E-SE winds again, pushing the smoke towards Glide and Roseburg.  As the late day storm conditions move into the geographic area to the south, smoke conditions will become increasingly more hazy, and shift their impacts back over towards Prospect, Diamond Lake, Crater Lake, and Chiloquin.  Considerable smoke contribution from Chetco Bar fires and Eclipse Complex to SE is adding to the local smoke impacts.

Tourists at Crater Lake National Park will be able to view and smell smoke. Visitors should check for road closures and other announcements ahead of time.  Visitors can check https://www.nps.gov/crla/planyourvisit/conditions.htm for updates.
